SUEZ signs equality pledge for new parents

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK has signed the Working Forward pledge aimed at improving the workplace for pregnant women and new parents.

The waste management company said it plans to use the pledge in four key areas: strong leadership, promoting employee confidence, supporting line managers and offering flexible working.

Speaking at the launch of the pledge in Manchester, SUEZ’s senior HR manager for the North West, Lynne Fish, said: “Historically, the waste and recycling industry has employed predominantly male workers.

“SUEZ is keen to attract more women into the industry and the steps we have taken – like supporting pregnant employees, offering generous maternity and paternity leave and offering flexible working hours right across our workforce – has helped.”
