EU regulations should be adopted despite Brexit, according to a new report published by the Recycling Association.

In the first annual report since the launch of its Quality First campaign, the body called on the UK government to adopt the European Union Circular Economy Package as an urgent priority.

It also argued that every part of the UK supply chain must take responsibility to make sure a product can be recycled at the end of its life.

Simon Ellin, Recycling Association CEO, said: "In the UK we've never come up with anything remotely like the Circular Economy Package.

"It's not a perfect document but far more visionary than anything we've come up with. It's a million times better than anything government has done in this country for us."

think it's the beest legislation that we have out there and would hate the fact Brexit would mean we have no visionary recycling sustainable policy.

"Million times better than anything government has done in this country for us."
