Online applications are now open for 18-30 year-olds to enter a $50,000 prize for the best solution to tackle reuse and recycling challenges.

The competition, launched by packaging and paper company Mondi in partnership with One Young World, will fund a project that will make a contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 12- Responsible Consumption and Production.

The winning candidate will receive funds and business mentoring from senior figures at Mondi, where their concept will be turned into a solution for tackling waste in manufacturing.

Kate Robertson, co-founder of One Young World, said: “With 380 million jobs predicted to be created by achieving the SDGs, and $12 trillion (£9 trillion) unlocked in market opportunities, the business case for accelerating progress on the Global Goals is clear.

“The world leading organisations that have committed to join Lead2030 are not just doing the right thing, they’re doing the smart thing for their business.”

Applications will close on 5th January 2019 and the winner will be announced in April.
