The Resource Association has elected a new chair and vice-chair. Robbie Warden of UPM was elected as chair, with Eric Randall of Bryson Recycling elected to serve as vice-chair for the forthcoming year.

Both were elected unanimously by members attending the recent annual general meeting. A seven-strong board of directors was also elected at the AGM, with Paldeep Bhatti of Kent Resource Partnership stepping up to the board, replacing Sam Reeve of Resource Futures who stepped down this year.

Retiring chair Peter Clayson of DS Smith continues to serve on the board after completing his term of office as chair, alongside continuing serving members Andy Doran of Novelis, Gero Hempel of Palm Recycling and Mandy Kelly of ACE-UK.

New chair Robbie Warden, said: "Peter Clayson has been a well-respected and strong chair and leaves big boots to fill. I call on Peter and colleagues on the board as we develop our recently agreed new business plan and continue to press hard with the message that high quality recycling is essential for the health and sustainability of UK reprocessing and manufacturing.”

Outgoing chair Peter Clayson responded: “These haven’t been easy times for the recycling and reprocessing industries, but we have continued to make the case for quality recycling, more consistency in household collections and establishing the importance of reprocessor quality specifications, reminding the supply chain that high quality recycled products need consistency and quality in feedstock.”

New vice chair Eric Randall (pictured above) stated: “Alongside the rest of our industry we continue to look ahead at the political challenges that face us, and with the general election and Brexit negotiations high on the list, rest assured we stand ready to engage constructively in the policy debates that will inevitably flow from these important political milestones, across all parts of the United Kingdom.”
