UK Container Maintenance (UKCM) has secured a contract with the City of Cardiff Council for the supply of refuse and recycling products.

The container repair and refurbishment company is being tasked to help the council save money with the maintenance of steel wheeled bins and containers, repairing and supplying any parts necessary.

It is also stipulated that UKCM will offer further services should they be required, including:

  • Comb bar replacements
  • Comb bar conversion for fitting of tags
  • Conversion to mesh sides from standard
  • Floor replacement
  • Conversion from standard to towing castor layout
  • Fitting of bash plates, corner enforcers and Danish handles

Under the ESPO (a public sector owned professional buying organisation) framework, the contract is expected to comprise a 12-month period with the opportunity of a second year extension.

Tara King, assistant director at The City of Cardiff Council, said: “Previous work has demonstrated that we can make savings and safety improvements with the refurbishment of containers and in product design and development.”

Emma Elston, CEO of UKCM, added: “Since working with ESPO, we have achieved further contracts across the UK, enabling us to help local authorities save money in the repair and refurbishment of waste containers, instead of buying from new.”
